Meet the Staff
An integral part part of what makes us the best dental practice in town is our wonderful staff!
Ana Gallegos
Since January 2009, Ana has been working with us, seeing changes and the satisfaction of lots of patients. Even though she had worked at various places as a dental assistant, she had never worked at an orthodontic office before, which is what she likes the most of here. In addition to being kind, Ana is always smiling and enjoys chatting with all our patients.
Cecilia Córdova
Ceci is the treatment coordinator at Dr. Alex’s office, as well as being a dental assistant. Since she had never had this opportunity before, she now really enjoys it because she learns new things and meets different types of people. The work environment and direct contact with patients are her greatest satisfactions. Ceci is currently studying to become an accountant and hopes to obtain her degree soon.
Juan A. Abundis
As the maintenance attendant, Juan has diverse responsibilities with us. When he first started, he was enticed by the accessible and laid-back job, but after learning so much, especially since starting with no knowledge of dental offices, he knows his position is essential here. Since November 2013, Juan feels happy with his work and appreciates when patients interact with him, are amicable and form friendships.
Rosa Ramos
Rozy is Dr. Alex’s Principal assistant. Although she had previous experience with other dental offices, Rozy really likes her job and finds it interesting, especially orthodontics since she can see the results patients obtain and how they provide us with their trust. Her biggest satisfaction is to contribute during treatments and working in the dental laboratory. She currently lives here in Nuevo Progreso and considers herself “very serious.” :P
Yanely Garcés
Currently in her early 20’s, Yanely is one of Dr. Romero’s assistants. She is very happy to be working with us since 2012. She had previously worked as a dental assistant, but nowadays she enjoys it even more since daily she sees how patients arrive with discomfort and leave with a smile, delighted with our team work. She also appreciates the companionship of her co-workers and patients.
Our Office
Since 1994, Romero Orthodontics plus General Dentistry, in Nuevo Progreso, Mexico, has offered a unique dental experience that is fun, interactive, efficient and, most of all, affordable.
We maintain a commitment to our patients in every aspect of our practice to ensure complete satisfaction. We do not like to buy our reputation. Therefore, we don't run advertisement campaigns, make unsubstantiated claims, subscribe to 1-800 organizations nor pay pushers to bring us patients from the street.
Our efforts result in an accurate diagnosis, assuring long-term benefits to our patients. It is not unusual when our patients refer their neighbors, friends and family members to us.
Thanks to our satisfied patients: you are our best advertisement!
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DENTIST AND AN ORTHODONTIST?
A general dentist is similar to a family doctor — a professional who can do everything from check-ups, fillings, surgeries and more. An orthodontist is a specialist who has at least two years of additional education, and is an expert in straightening your teeth and choosing the treatment option that's best for you.
To have the best and healthiest smile you can have, rely on an orthodontists’ expertise. After graduating from dental school, orthodontists go on for another two or more years of education just in orthodontics at an accredited orthodontic residency program. Only after this formal education can one be called an "orthodontist." Only orthodontists are accepted for membership in the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO). Selecting a member of the AAO for orthodontic care is the public's assurance that they are selecting an orthodontist.
The best part is both our doctors are orthodontists and can also treat your general dentistry problems!
Meet the Doctors
Some dentists like their job; others, like us, LOVE our job! Of course we do, its in our blood. The original Dr. Romero, our father and grandfather, became the first dentist in our family in 1939. Since then, we are proudly in our third generation of Romero Dentists.
Dr. Alejandro Romero D.D.S.
Dr. Alejandro was born in Mexico City where he grew up and enrolled in the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), alma mater where he finished high school, dental school and training in orthodontics. He worked in Mexico City alongside his father and older brother until he moved to McAllen TX, where he worked with a recognized orthodontist from the Rio Grande Valley.
In 1994, he established his original orthodontic practice in Nuevo Progreso, Mexico and now practices in our beautiful Main office, just down the block from the original location.
Dr. Romero has been happily married to his wife for over 30 years and they are the proud parents of their two children. Dr. Romero loves playing tennis, motorcycles and boats.
Dr. Alejandro "Alex" Romero D.M.D.
Born in Mexico City, Dr. Alex was raised in the Rio-Grande Valley/Northeastern Mexico area. He attended Rowe High School before moving to Reynosa, Mexico. There he obtained his Degree as a Doctor of Dental Medicine. Dr. Alex obtained a certificate in Orthodontics from New York University (NYU) and joined his father's dental practice in 2009.
Since 2011, Dr. Alex took over his father's original practice. He is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), a fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO) and an active participant and visiting professor with the Consortium for Translational Orthodontic Research (CTOR) in the New York City area.
In his free time he enjoys traveling, painting, the theater, motor-sports and all sorts of live music.
